How do you evolve units in Doodle Tower Defense?
Open the unit and check its evolve screen: you need a level (20 for Wizard and Dragon), a star item, Pencils and materials such as dusts and Bones. Dragon is the most expensive so far: level 20, a 6★ item, 15,000 Pencils, 38 Chromatic Dust, 90 Gold Dust and 70 Bones.

What materials are used?
- Pencils: needed for every evolution (2,500 for Wizard, 15,000 for Dragon). See currencies.
- Star items: a 4★ item (Wizard) or a 6★ item (Dragon). Four-star items come in bundles (1 to 30, see the shop).
- Dusts: Blue Dust, Purple Dust, Gold Dust and Chromatic Dust.
- Bones: 70 for Dragon.
- Other drops named by players: fire wings (Act 1), emeralds and tree bark.
How does the Exchange help?
The Exchange in the mall lobby lets you combine items into higher rarities, or break them down. Use it to turn spare low-rarity materials into the ones your evolution is missing.
When should you evolve?
- Evolve your main damage dealer first: it changes the most fights.
- Evolve before a boss wave, not during it.
- Level 20 is the requirement we have seen, so level the unit with XP, Pencils and Stasis Pods first (see AFK rewards).
